  5. INTRODUCTION
  6. ------------

  8. MY COLORING BOOK is a children's drawing and coloring program running
  9. under Microsoft Windows 3.X.  It is designed for children from 2 to 6.
  10. They can color, draw, save, and print each page of this coloring book.
  11.  
  12. MY COLORING BOOK currently has two updated versions.  Version 0.2 is
  13. the final version for shareware distribution.  It contains one blank
  14. page and one with design for coloring.  Version 2.0 is the registered
  15. version.  It contains nine designs and one blank page. It also includes
  16. the capability to print the pages, and open user files for coloring.
  17. This later capability allows parents to create additional designs for
  18. their children to color.

  20. You are welcome to distribute or share MY COLORING BOOK version 0.2 with
  21. your friends provided you do not alter the contents of this program.
  22. Only MY COLORING BOOK version 0.2 can be treated as public domain software.
  23. You may not distribute MY COLORING BOOK registered version 2.0.

  28. The distribution version of MY COLORING BOOK contains the following files
  29.  
  30.            COLOR.EXE  -  the main executable
  31.            COLOR.TXT  -  this readme file
  32.            PAGE.DLL -  bitmaps for the pages in the coloring book
  33.            KEYS.DLL - bitmaps for the graphical keys
  34.  
  35. All of the above files should be located in the same sub-directory for 
  36. the program to operate properly.

  38. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  39. -------------------

  41. Since MY COLORING BOOK operates under Microsoft Windows 3.0 environment,
  42. the following system configuration is recommended for MY COLORING BOOK
  43. to run effectively.
  44.  
  45.     - PC/AT 286, 386, 486, or better computer operating
  46.       at speed greater than 10 MHz
  47.  
  48.     - Microsoft Windows 3.0 or later operating environment
  49.  
  50.     - Mouse pointing device
  51.  
  52.     - EGA, VGA, and XGA display system
  53.  
  54. INSTALLATION
  55. ------------

  57. To install MY COLORING BOOK, just copy the files stated in the FILE LIST 
  58. paragraph above into a sub-directory of your choice.  Then, you should
  59. activate the Microsoft Windows 3.0 environment.  Next, select the 
  60. "RUN" option under the "file" menu item of your Windows 3.0 Program 
  61. Manager.  This will result a dialog box appears on your screen.  Under
  62. the "Command Line" input, type in the directory path of MY COLORING BOOK 
  63. and COLOR.EXE to execute the program.

  65. If you want to permanently install MY COLORING BOOK in your Program 
  66. Manager, please refer to Windows 3.0 User's manual for the procedures
  67. to adding icons within Program Manager.

  69. PROGRAM OPERATION
  70. -----------------

  72. My Coloring Book uses graphical keys and pull down menus for interface.
  73. The menu bar contains two items, Options and Help.   Under Options, there
  74. are three items, Auto Save, Printer Enabled, and User File.  Only Auto
  75. Save is available in this version.  You may toggle it to select auto sav
  76. default mode is auto save.  This means that your child's work is automatically
  77. saved at the local directory every time he or she changes pages or exits
  78. the program.  A help manual is not installed for this version.

  80. Most interface are done with graphical keys.  These keys are located at the
  81. bottom of the program. The first key is used to turn the pages in the coloring
  82. book.  Click it with a mouse to turn to the next page.  The second key is
  83. used to print the displayed page when printer is enabled.  It is not active
  84. in this version.  The third key is used to restore the original design.  All
  85. the original designs are stored in the PAGE.DLL, and therefore ensures that
  86. they will always be available even after many uses of the program.  When a
  87. page has been worked on, it is stored in the local directory.  This saved
  88. page will be the one loaded by the program first.  However, if a child wants
  89. to erase the work and start afresh, he or she may click on the restored key
  90. to restore the original design.  The forth key is a eraser,  when only a
  91. small portion of the picture needs to be redone, a child can click on this
  92. key to obtain an eraser, and then drag the eraser with the mouse to erase
  93. the desired area.

  95. The next sixteen keys are of two types: brushes and crayons.  Click on the
  96. brushes with the desired color to color an enclosed area.  Click on the
  97. crayons with the desired color to draw.  Draw an enclosed shape and color it
  98. with a brush.  Your child may  use his or her imagination to add new objects
  99. to the design.  A blank page is provided for infinite possibilities.

  104. The distribution version of MY COLORING BOOK is a freeware.  It serves as 
  105. a demonstration for the registered version of MY COLORING BOOK.  However, 
  106. it is copyrighted material, and it is protected by the copyright laws
  107. of the United States.  You may not alter, decompile, nor disassemble
  108. the program for any purpose.

  110. We encourage you to share this distribution version of MY COLORING BOOK 
  111. with your friends.

  113. REGISTRATION
  114. ------------
  115. Registration fee for My Coloring Book is $15.00.  My Coloring Book is part
  116. of a children's software package called "Toy Chest".  "Toy Chest" contains
  117. five programs:  Pictures ABC, Action 123, Kiddie Puzzles, My Coloring Book,
  118. and Little Piano.  If you are a registered user of any other "Toy Chest"
  119. programs, the registration fee for My Coloring Book is $7.50.  Similarly,
  120. after registering for My Coloring Book, registration fee for other "Toy
  121. Chest" programs are reduced by half.  To register for the entire "Toy
  122. Chest" package, please send in a check for $40.
